#1 D Ring Snaffle

Fancy D ring snaffle. With the diameter of mouthpiece that we prefer on young horses.

#2 Snaffle with 6″ Shanks
Snaffle, copper mouth piece with 6″ shank. This is the bit we go to after we take our coils out of a ring snaffle. It lets a horse get used to a rein coming off a shank with a chain strap.

#3 Snaffle with a 7″ Shank
Snaffle copper mouth piece with swept back 7″ shank. Great for young horses or horses with an extremely light mouth.

#4 Three Piece Snaffle
Three piece mouth piece with a copper inlaid in sweet steel. 8″ shank with sleeves in the corners of the bit to reduce the chance of pinching. Great bit for a young horse or a light mouth horse. This bit can be used as a permanent bit.

#5 Snaffle Bit
Snaffle mouth with copper inlaid in sweet steel. 8″ shank. Mouth piece is curved slightly to fit a horse’s mouth more comfortably. Loose Cheeks. This bit is a must in your bit collection because it lets you know if you need more bit or less bit. Unless your horse was started in a side pull he has had a snaffle mouth piece in his mouth when he was young.

#6 Twisted Wire Snaffle with “Life-Saver”
Features a “life-saver” in the middle. Twisted wire increases the severity of a bit. The “life-saver” increase the pressure on the tongue. I like to use this bit to lighten a horse up, then go back to my shanked snaffle.

#7 Floating Spade
Features an 8″ shank with a 1-1/2port in the center of the mouth. A nice feature of this bit is that if you want to touch the roof of a horse’s mouth with the port, you can. When the horse comes off the bit you can release the pressure and the port will lay down on the tongue.

#8 Smooth One by One
This 8″ shank bit is one of my favorites simply because it works on more horses than any other bit in my collection. The port is one inch wide to apply pressure to the sides of the tongue. Also, it’s only one inch high so it doesn’t touch the roof of the horse’s mouth.

#9 One by One with Copper Wrap
This is the same bit as #7 with copper wire added to the bars of the bit. The port works on the sides of the tongue but the copper wraps als work on the bars and the corners of his mouth. For a horse that is just a little strong in the bridle but doesn’t need pressure applied to the roof of his mouth.

#10 Smooth One by Two
This 8″ cheeked bit is designed to work on the roof of the horse’s mouth. Personally, I don’t like to work on the roof and give the horse tongue relief. That’s why this port is 1″ wide. This 1″ space allows you to work on the side of the tongue. The 2″ high port touched the roof of his mouth like higher ports do.

#11 One by Two with Copper Wrap
This is the same bit as number nine with copper wire added to the bars of the bit. The addition of copper wire is the next logical step up in severity.

#12 One by Two with Twisted Steel
If you have a horse that is tough to stop, then this is the bit for you! The 2″ high port works on the roof of the horse’s mouth. If you have tried twisted wire and found it didn’t work, then it’s time for twisted steel. With this bit, I would suggest a hard tie down. By that, I mean our plain rope tie-down across his nose. If the nose becomes tender, go down to our braided tie-down.
